Backroom Store Associate Job Description

Store Vision

Bricks & Minifigs is first and foremost a fun place for people of all ages to enjoy and explore their passion for LEGO®. We facilitate this by providing excellent customer service and expert LEGO® knowledge for all ages and abilities.

Each Bricks & Minifigs location is locally owned, and part of a nationwide franchise, headquartered in Orem, UT. We are a buy, sell trade store that encourages customers to reuse, rebuild and reimagine with LEGO® elements.

Store Associate High Level Responsibility

  • Create an atmosphere that balances a casual/friendly feel with professionalism.
  • Help customers, aged child to adult, learn their way around the store and develop an understanding of how the Bricks & Minifigs experience is unique.
  • Make sure the environment is clean, safe and welcoming.

The practicalities of what most of your day will entail:

  • Sorting and cleaning bulk LEGO, LOTS of sorting and cleaning bulk LEGO.
    (This is the primary purpose for this position and what you will be doing most.)
  • Filing special parts into bins and containers by type and/or color;
  • Organizing and stocking minifigures and sets (new and used);
  • Cleaning restrooms, sweeping, mopping and vacuuming;
  • Cleaning and dusting of items on shelves, shelves, and glass cases;
  • Preparing for and/or hosting party events;
  • Daily start-up and shut-down activities;
  • Building and repairing used sets, minifigures;
  • Certifying Used Sets to assure all parts are present;
  • And lots of standing with quite a bit of lifting heavy containers upwards of 50 pounds.

Requirements

  • The ability to work and relate well with people
  • Excellent organizational and sorting skills
  • Excellent written and verbal skills with the ability to communicate effectively
  • Knowledge of the LEGO ecosystem from past to present
  • Intermediate LEGO building skills
  • A strong desire to learn what needs to be done to successfully support a small local business
  • An ability to work on weekends and in accordance with posted store hours
  • The ability to recognize what needs to be done and to act on it without supervision
  • Dependable transportation to assure good attendance
  • The ability to work with LEGO® yet having the ability to stay focused on your tasks. 
  • Age requirement is 16 years old or older.

Compensation and shifts

  • This position starts around 20-30 hours per week with wages generally starting from $8 - $10/hr.
  • The shifts run through all the days open (including specified Holidays).
  • We are currently open from 10am to 6pm M-Sat and 1pm-6pm Sunday
